Want to widen your reading? Or perhaps you want to read more but don’t know where to begin?
Reading more books was in the top five of New Year’s resolutions, according to a YouGov poll this year. We’re not surprised. One of the great pleasures we have here at Kett’s is chatting to people about the books they’ve enjoyed – and of course making recommendations too.
With this in mind we’ve come up with just the thing to liven up your reading list in 2018. Whether you feel that you’re stuck in a reading rut, welcome any excuse to justify curling up with a book or are somewhere in between, this is the challenge to get you to broaden your literary horizons – whatever your age.
Reading is of course its own reward, but we’re also offering an incentive: if you complete these 10 challenges before Saturday the 15th of December we’ll enter you into a draw to win a £25 book voucher. Just fill in a challenge form (available in-store) with the ten titles you’ve read and keep your fingers crossed!
The challenges are :
A book with a Norfolk connection – author, subject or location
Something that’s been recommended to you
A book by an African author
A non-fiction book
Something written before 1960
A book which challenges you
A book in translation
A book written in spite of disability or disadvantage
A book by an Asian author
A book published in 2018
Feel free to do these challenges in any order (but don’t double up!), and if you do need any hints we will be posting suggestions suggestions on our Facebook page so be sure to follow along for inspiration and discuss what you have been reading too!
If you submit a book review of something you’ve read for the challenge we’d love to see it, and for each one we feature on the website you’ll get an additional entry into the reading challenge prize draw.
